Israel: Light for the Nations

If we wish to hasten the Messiah’s coming we have work to do. Exile and redemption may be national processes, but repentance begins with individuals. Today, the world is still experiencing the exile that began almost two thousand years ago. Yeshua’s teachings hold the keys that will bring that exile to an end.

The Ghosts of Auschwitz

In 1985 I visited the Jerusalem Holocaust museum, Yad V’shem. It was my first indication that God had not disposed of his people. I had grown up with that closed-box worldview where only people who believed like me were actually God’s people. What I saw at Yad V’shem forced me to revisit my theology. It forced me to challenge the assumptions.

The Beloved City

During the Six-Day War, one of the most stirring moments occured, which was captured on camera and tape, when Lt. General Mordechai Gur announced, "The Temple Mount is in our hands … the Temple Mount is in our hands!" Why was this so very significant?

Yom Ha’Atzma’ut

Today, seventy-three years ago, a great miracle took place. After enduring thousands of years of foreign domination and exile which culminated in the cruel evil of genocide, God’s chosen people witnessed the sudden and miraculous fulfillment of ancient prophecies, hopes, and prayers: the rebirth of a sovereign Jewish state in the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Standing Still

At this moment speeches come to a halt, because words fail us as we try to describe the pain of our lost children. Traffic stops as individuals stand outside their cars to show respect. Movement in the streets suspends as everyone, no matter where they are, stands completely still with their heads bowed.

The Satanic Deception

Satan has deceived the whole world in his efforts to isolate and annihilate God’s covenant people. We must not rely on public opinion to form our worldview but rather renew our minds by seeing through the lens of Holy Scripture, which will dispel the lies of the enemy.

The Miraculous Birth of the State of Israel

Seventy years ago a great miracle took place. After enduring thousands of years of foreign domination and exile that culminated in the evil genocide of the Holocaust, God’s chosen people witnessed the sudden and miraculous fulfillment of ancient prophecies, hopes, and prayers: the rebirth of a sovereign Jewish state in the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The Ruin of Zion

The Bible states we should mourn with mourners and that the mourners of the destruction of the Temple will be comforted. Rabbi Israel Pick, a pioneer of Messianic Judaism, wrote this lament during the fast of Tisha B’Av.

Calling the Victim the Criminal

If you look at the map of the Middle East published by the PA, you will not find Israel. That is because the objective of both the PA and Hamas is not two states for two people, but the annihilation of the Jewish state and its replacement with an Arab state “from the Mediterranean to the Jordan.”

In the Throes

I looked into the future with the hope that a Sabbath day would dawn when birdsong and the voice of mankind would be mingled together, singing in praise and thanksgiving; when the sound of shooting would no longer be heard in the holy city nor in any other part of the world.

The Burma Road

Under the moonlit sky of May 30, 1948, three soldiers of the new Jewish state scouted the wadis and imposing slopes that climb up into the Judean hills southwest of Latrun. Following a footpath worn by centuries of shepherds, their jeep barely crawled up the steep side of a ravine; they had to get out and push it up the last few yards.

A Bible from Heaven

As they circled the settlement, she dropped a special parcel to the men who once served under her husband. The parcel contained her late husband’s Bible. The men of Ramot Naftali retrieved the parcel, opened it up, and recognized the Bible. It was the same Bible they had seen their late commander so often consult before leading them into battle.

A Glimpse through the Window

If we were to be allowed to come to Mount Zion at all, then we believed that all our steps and plans would be guided by the same power that had brought us there. Somewhere on Mount Zion we would find the place intended for us.

England: 1947 and the Rise of Anti-Semitism

First Fruits of Zion is proud to present the following excerpt of the newly released book Siege of Jerusalem written by a Messianic Jewish voice from the past, Pauline Rose (1890-1973). These are her firsthand accounts, eyewitness testimony, diary notes, and letters of correspondence written from Jerusalem between 1946 and 1949.

If I Forget Thee

Our fondest hopes and visions are bound up with Jerusalem, and at its heart, the Kodesh haKodeshim (holy of holies), where the Divine Presence hovered over the Ark of the Covenant. It is from here that the one true God will rule over the earth, and this is about which the struggle over Jerusalem continues.

The Legacy of Al Husseini

In 1922, there was room enough for Jew and Arab to share the land and work together to build an Eden in the Middle East. There were voices for moderation and cooperation between Arabs and Jews. There was also a strong voice calling for the implementation of the Nazi “Final Solution.”

Who Is the Real David and Goliath?

Thirty-eight percent of all critical reports issued by the UN Human Rights Council have been directed against Israel alone. We shouldn’t wonder when we see the world lining up against this tiny Jewish state. Please bless, defend, and support Israel, the only Jewish country in the world.

Who Has a Legal Right to the Land?

The only ethnic group granted political rights to a state in Palestine were the Jews. There was no Arab nation of Palestine. The Arabs of the three other mandates were granted similar rights in their respective national homelands. The “Mandate for Palestine” was never rescinded. It still stands as a binding legal document concerning the Jewish homeland.

A Blessing to the Nations

Today, as G-d, true to His word, sovereignly regathers the exiles to His Holy Land, we are beginning to see the flowering of that nation, established in a day, in the heart of a region seized with turmoil and violence. Israel has filled the earth with beautiful fruit of every venue.

A Tale of Two Refugees

We are all familiar with the plight of the Arab refugees, most of whom are still living in squalor in crowded camps in Judea/Samaria, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. Despite the fact that they shared a common language, culture, and religion, to this day they are mistreated, and held as second class citizens among their Arab brothers.

Stealing the Past

In their effort to promote the narrative that Israel is the home of the ancient indigenous Palestinian people who have been illegally displaced by Western Jews, the Arabs have attempted to rewrite history. There never was a Jewish presence in Israel, never was a Jewish Temple, the Palestinian roots go back to the ancient Philistines or Jebusites, and Jesus was a Palestinian.

The Dubrovin Farm

Every time I visit Israel, I see something I’ve never seen before. While there are sites such as the Kotel, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Master’s cave in the Galilee that I feel must be a pilgrimage each time I travel to Israel, there is just too much to see to not visit some places for the first time.
