More books in the Mayim Chayim series is coming!
The Master tells us that all who believe in him will have rivers of mayim chayim ("living water") flowing out of them. This living water is the Torah, and in this series we will take the commandments of Torah and bring them into everyday application so that the Torah flows out of us.
In the Messianic movement today, there is chaos and misinformation when it comes to practically applying the commandments of the Torah. Between the reinventing of the wheel and divisions caused over minutia, there is a real need to cut through the confusion and to bring much-needed clarity. It is our hope that this series will meet that need by providing in-depth studies on the commandments from both traditional and historical perspectives, examining everything from the Bible, to archaeology, to rabbinic literature, to the church fathers, with the specific focus being on Messiah. Each book will focus on a specific commandment of the Torah while presenting information and ideas for practical application in a non-threatening, non-dogmatic way.
You Shall Bind
An In-depth Study of Tefillin: One of the most intimidating commandments to those new to Torah is the practice of tefillin (“phylacteries” in the English transliteration of the Greek). This comprehensive book will cover topics such as the validity of interpreting tefillin literally, Yeshua’s practice, and the symbolism behind the commandments. Learn how the tefillin are a picture of Messiah and his relationship with us. Also included will be step-by-step instructions on how to lay tefillin, including diagrams and pictures. The reader will walk away with a greater appreciation for tefillin as well as the ancient roots of the traditional practice.
The Greatest Commandment
An In-depth Study of Loving God and your Neighbor: Yeshua tells his disciples that the world will know that we are his disciples by our love (John 13:35). Much of the Master’s teaching was based on the Torah concept of loving God and your neighbor. Yet, in our Western society, we often misunderstand love as a feeling or an emotional roller-coaster. Rather Biblical love is an action and something that we must strive for everyday. In The Greatest Commandment we will examine this core principle of Scripture and discover how to live it out in all aspects of our lives.
Divine Connection
An In-depth Study of Devekut: As believers our relationship to Messiah is the centerpiece of our faith, but did you realize that our connection to him is actually fulfilling a mitzvah of the Torah? In this study we will examine the breath of Jewish literature from the Talmud to current Chasidic teachings as to the nature of this mysterious relationship between us and the All Consuming Fire above—a relationship that is only brought to full fruition in Messiah. Learn how to walk in this connection daily and have it impact your life in a new ways.
You Shall Bind and On the Fringe are scheduled to be released in sometime in the summer of 2010.
