Join the chorus of prayer throughout the centuries

Our movement is in desperate need of unity and maturity. We need unity with one another and with the greater Jewish world. We need to learn to mature in the areas of prayer and tradition.

Messianic Judaism needs a siddur (prayer book) that will reflect our unity with Israel as well as our faith in Yeshua the Messiah, including the words and prayers of Yeshua and the apostolic community.

A complete weekday, Sabbath, and festival siddur, with an elegant and stunning design. Hebrew and English will be presented on facing pages, with extensive footnotes and insightful Messianic commentary. This Siddur, from beginning to end, will be Yeshua-centered. The prayers that are included and the wording of those prayers will be chosen based on the teachings of the Messiah and His Apostles. Passages that reflect beliefs that are inconsistent with faith in Yeshua will not be included.

Being used three or more times each day, the Siddur, the Jewish prayer book, is one of the most central and fundamental volumes of biblical faith. It contains services that correspond to the sacrifices in the Temple, as well as passages of Scripture woven together into poems, songs, and personal prayers.

The core prayers that are contained in the traditional prayer book have been prayed for thousands of years. By praying the traditional prayers of Judaism, we join a chorus of worship that encircles the entire globe and ripples through the generations back to the days of the disciples, the Messiah himself, and beyond. However, even though the traditional prayers are inherently messianic, they lack the words, teachings, and prayers of Yeshua and the apostolic community.

Our Messianic siddur will bring us into unity with one another and the greater Jewish world. The book will be beautifully designed and printed at the highest level of quality, reflecting its nature as a sacred text. It will also be inviting and easy to follow, equipping congregations and individuals who wish to incorporate a more historical style of worship and prayer but do not know where to start. This resource will help the community of Torah-minded disciples of Yeshua to continue to mature and become people of prayer.

This project is well underway. The translation is in the process of testing and review, and commentary and design are being developed. We are unable to project a completion date on this project, but are busy working towards its completion, as it is a priority. We realize that there is a great need for and much anticipation of this needed prayer book.

Please be patient with us; this is an overwhelming and extremely ambitious task. Between collecting and arranging the material in away that is sensitive to the proper intent and process in prayer, accurately translating the work into flowing and poetic English, proofreading, editing, and reviewing all of the text, producing meaningful commentary on the entire prayer service that is specifically relevant to disciples of the master Yeshua;formatting, laying out, and designing all of the pages in two languages and two directions, printing and binding, and producing educational materials and additional media to accompany the project, there is much work to do.

We have also learned much from our pilot project, the Grace After Meals booklet entitled Nodeh Lecha. This booklet has given us an opportunity to practice and fine-tune our language, style, and design process. The feedback we are receiving from this project will greatly assist us as we produce the complete siddur.

Through the generosity of our donors this project has been funded through various stages of development. Currently, funding for this resource is accomplished through contributions to the FFOZ Friends program. Once this project moves to a more formal state, we will have better estimates of remaining needs for printing and communicate those specific needs at that time. For now there are ongoing expenses to develop this resource, and you can be apart of this work by becoming a FFOZ Friend.

For more information on the FFOZ Friends program, go to "Partner with Us" in the sidebar on this page. If you would like to speak with someone on the teaching team regarding details of this project, updates, or the remaining financial needs for this resource please go to our contact page, write us, and reference this project.
