Commentary:
The laws of Parashat Mishpatim (Exodus 21:1-24:18) seem to have little to do with Messiah. They are a collection of civil rulings, case precedents, statutes and judgments. What to do if your ox gores someone; punitive measures for theft; compensations for damages; tort and liability laws; community standards and ceremonies. It is the type of material we might be tempted to read through very quickly (or skip entirely).
