Chassidic discourse teaches that the Spirit of Messiah is more exalted than that of Moses. Whereas Moses is depicted being drawn out from the water and dividing the sea, walking through the water, Messiah is depicted above the water. In the beginning of Genesis it says, "and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water." The Sages teach, "This is the Spirit of Messiah." In the gospels, Messiah walks over the surface of the water....

First Moses said, "Stand by." Then God said, "Tell them to go forward." Isn't this a contradiction? Moses told them to stand still, meaning, "Do not run away, and do not give up hope." God told them to go forward in a step of faith. Despite all contrary voices, He told them to hope again....

The manna is meant to teach us about relying on God. Our Master taught us to trust God for our daily provision. He taught us not to worry about food, drink and clothing. He taught that just as God provides food for the birds and clothes the grass of the field, He provides for His children. He said, "Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things" (Matthew 6:32)....
