The Jubilee Year Myffoz premium content

The sabbatical year and Jubilee law reminds us that, ultimately, everything belongs to God. We do not really own anything. Instead, "The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains" (Psalm 24:1). In Western society it is easy to get caught in the trap of materialism. We unconsciously measure our quality of life based on the value of our possessions. A person cannot truly own things. We are just short-term borrowers.

The Year of Freedom Myffoz premium content

The Jubilee foreshadows the coming of Messiah in several ways. Like the Messiah's coming, it is instituted with the blast of a shofar-trumpet blast: "You shall then sound a ram's horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall sound a horn all through your land" (Leviticus 25:9). The Jubilee year is a time of redemption for the land of Israel. It is the time of redemption and freedom for the people of Israel. In these ways, it foreshadows the coming of Messiah. The Torah Mirror Myffoz premium content

The Torah says, “You shall then sound a ram's horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall sound a horn all through your land. You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family.” (Leviticus 25:9-10) The Jubilee trumpet is an eternal call to freedom and an enduring hope for the future. We long to hear the Jubilee trumpet of Messiah.
