Vacation Time

HOG6824_camel.jpgI've had an incredible amount of difficulty compartmentalizing my life. It seems that my social, family, and ministry life all blend together. Actually, they do blend together. Over the years, I've taken little time for myself, for rest, or for personal renewal.

Near the end of the completion of the Delitzsch Hebrew Gospels I kept hearing from friends and even strangers, "When was the last time you had a vacation? You need a break." These persistent questions caused me to carefully look in the mirror and see if I "looked" tired, worn out, or just burnt out. I did.

But I also realize that I am spiritually worn out and need to reconnect.

At about the same time a generous donor and friend came to me and asked, "When was the last time you had a vacation? You need a break." He said, "Let me know when and where you want to go. My wife and I want to send you on a vacation--but you have to commit to me to not work."

I took that as a sign.

Now, I'm off. I leave on Thursday for a month of vacation in Israel. I will be celebrating my daughters 18th birthday in the Land of her birth, running in the Jerusalem Marathon (only the half marathon segment), enjoying life in Israel, reconnecting with friends, laying on the beach, eating a falafel from my favorite joint, davening at the Kotel, practicing my Israeli street Hebrew, having a few laughs, downing a Tolberg with Israeli olives, etc.

While I am away

While I am hiking through the upper Galilee and throughout the land, FFOZ will still be busy. On March 15th we will announce a new, completed Vine of David book that we just received from the printer. It is an inspiring work. It will bring you closer to the Messiah and stir your hearts with wonder. The office will also be busy servicing your Passover needs.

Please pray for my family and me during this vacation. Pray that the Almighty will be pleased to spiritually and physically refresh us for the work ahead. May the Lord bless you.

Enjoy it, Boaz. It's from HaShem Himself. Comeback after your break and continue to give us more of your goodies.

Would have loved to join you on the J'lem half. Someday, bezrat Hashem. I hope you get to have lots of fun experiences and perhaps some spiritual insights only 'vacation' can often provide. Peace

Fantastic. Well earned I might add.

Daniel is next, right?

Enjoy, take lots of pictures and post some for the rest of us here in the frozen tundra.
