Jehosaphat and Psalm 118

Tags:  Hallel, Jehosaphat, Lessons from the Land, Messiah, Psalm 118

Episode 14: In 2 Chronicles chapter 20, we are told of the inspiring story of King Jehosaphat and the people of the Judean kingdom. When faced with the certain onslaught of an invading force the King called for fasting and prayer. This whole-hearted cry to God awakened the Almighty to action. A miracle ensued as the people marched into battle with a psalm on their lips (most likely Psalm 118). As the tour comes to the Herodian Fortress overlooking the wilderness of Tekoa, they stop to reflect on both the historic and the messianic meanings of Psalm 118.

"And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa ... [Jehosaphat] appointed those who were to sing to the LORD and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, "Give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever. And when they began to sing and praise, the LORD set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed." - 2nd Chronicles 20:20-22

In this video blog, Daniel and Steven Lancaster join together to give you a glimpse into the holy land of Israel. Archaeology, geography, geology, along with the language and cultural history of the Land and the People of Israel make the words of the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets - the Scriptures of Israel - come alive. In this video blog you'll get a raw peek into the experience of being on a First Fruits of Zion Israel tour and learn many valuable truths and biblical lessons in the mean time.
