 Lessons from the Land

Gates of Hades

Tags:  banyas, Caesarea Philippi, gates of hades, gates of hell, israel, Lessons from the Land

Episode 6: Touring the ruins of the ancient pagan cult center of Banyas located in northern Israel brings Matthew 16 to mind. Biblically known as Caesarea Philippi, Banyas was a site of a Greek pagan temple dedicated to Pan, a goat-footed god of music and goat herds. Is it possible that Yeshua and his disciples, all Torah observant Jews, could have come into proximity of this center of pagan worship? Could this location be "gates of Hades" mentioned in the Gospels?

In this video blog, Daniel and Steven Lancaster join together to give you a glimpse into the holy land of Israel. Archaeology, geography, geology, along with the language and cultural history of the Land and the People of Israel make the words of the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets - the Scriptures of Israel - come alive. In this video blog you'll get a raw peek into the experience of being on a First Fruits of Zion Israel tour and learn many valuable truths and biblical lessons in the mean time.

About the Author: D. Thomas Lancaster is Director of Education at First Fruits of Zion, and regular contributor to Messiah Journal. He is the author of the Torah Club programs, and the books Grafted In, Restoration and King of the Jews
