Webinar Focus

Badge 2x2.jpg

The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. "Holocaust" is a word of Greek origin meaning "sacrifice by fire."

This presentation is sub-titled "...from a critical perspective" as the introductory content places heavy emphasis on the role of Christian theology in the formation of the cultural climate that allowed for the Holocaust to happen.

Whatever one chooses to conclude about the definition of ancient anti-Judaism, there is no question that the birth of Christianity changed the situation dramatically. Many experts find the roots of modern anti-Semitism to be firmly imbedded in aspects of anti-Jewish Christian theology. For Christianity, originating as it did within Judaism, the issue involved both the separation from Judaism and the creation of an identity distinct from Judaism.

As Christians who identify strongly with the Jewishness of Jesus and with a strong sense of our Jewish roots, we are spiritually well-positioned to stand in the gap created by 2,000 years of misguided teaching, and bring healing to what Dr. David Stern refers to as "the greatest schism in the history of this planet" ... the separation of the Church and the Jewish people.

Webinar Presenters

Instructor: Daniel Hennessy
Special Guest: Dr. Michael Schiffman of Chevra
Host: First Fruits of Zion

Daniel Hennessy
Hennessy is a Holocaust educator trained at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. and was awarded the Meyer A. Nathan Scholarship for teaching the Holocaust by the national office of the Anti-Defamation League. He's also been trained by visiting staff from the Yad Vashem Int'l School of Holocaust Studies located in Jerusalem, Israel.

Chevra (Dr. Michael Schiffman)
Chevra has been operating since the fall of the USSR. Elderly Jews, mostly holocaust survivors, are living below the poverty level and do not know if they will have food for the next day. Chevra provides food parcels, and soup kitchens, and funds for medicine to them. Chevra also operates throughout Israel providing for the hurting and needy. With the aging population of holocaust survivors, this may be the last opportunity we have to help them. People who endured such horrible things should not finish their lives in starvation and poverty. (There will be an opportunity for you to give into this important work).

Visitor Feedback:

Holocaust education is one of the most important things we can do regarding Jews today. The Jewish Motorcycle Alliance (of which I am a member) raises money every year for Holocaust education. Jews from all over the globe, from Austraila to Israel will converge on Skokie, IL this year in June, check out the web site at Ride2Remember.com and come and visit. Last year we went to Savannah,GA and before that Omaha, NE

I fully believe in the Jewishness of Yeshua, and I am not anti-semitic, nor racist. However, I am not very politically correct, either, as that can lead to much revisionist nonsense.
The "Christian" anti-semitism of Germany at the time of the Shoah cannot be denied.
The fact that the Church separated itself from Judaism cannot be denied.
However, as always, there are two sides to this issue. When looking at the roots of this separation, we must go back very far, to the first century. There were sects within Judaism who wanted nothing to do with the followers of Yeshua, also. This cannot be denied. There was much persecution toward these Believers, as there was toward Jews later. Rabbi Shaul (Paul) is an excellent example of one who persecuted the Believers before he met Yeshua. Is it so surprising that the Believers were separated from Judaism, considering the climate at that time?
This does NOT excuse the persecution of Jews, of course, but let's look at the WHOLE history.

How deeply edifying to hear such words of wisdom and passion regarding the subject of the Holocaust. I agree, it is one of the most powerful ways we can support the Jewish people in our time. Les, your words have filled my heart with encouragement... May His countenance shine upon you and bring you shalom... I'll be visiting your website, for sure... You made my day...

We set up a group viewing at the public library. While we were reserving the room, the library asked us for the information and asked if they could advertise it on their website. What a blessing! People are interested in joining in this national remembrance, so that we may never forget.

I eagerly await your holocaust webinar. As a holocaust survivor I am aware how important it is to remind people of the tragedies that took place so that they may never happen again. I know that HaShem barchu will bless you for this webinar and I pray there will be many more in the near future. Thank you.

Brother Michael and all of FFOZ for last night's Holocaust Webinar. This educational opportunity added to my ever growing quest to know truth in order to walk in truth. This morning I saw a very encouraging yet timely article on NPR, the link:http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125514655. In this story, Frank Meeink tells of his transformation from the hate group, the SkinHeads. He has written a book, AutoBiography of a Recoving SkinHead. Abba Father, continue your life changing work on all of your people-starting with me, Your servant. Charis-Shalom.

Mary, the issue of the persecution of early believers by zealots the likes of Saul of Tarsus is hardly related to the events of recent history that we are discussing here, and should be seen on a more political background. The early believers were very much a part of Judaism at least until the destruction of the Temple, that is not to say the unity between these groups were without problems. It appears to me that you are trying to find a root cause for anti-semitism and the shoah within Judaism itself.
