New Hebrew Bible

The Bible changes lives, and the Reader's Hebrew Bible has changed mine--well at least my enjoyment of the Bible.
Reading the Hebrew Bible can be frustrating if you don't have a competent mastery of Hebrew vocabulary. For me, it has often been a slow, painful process, requiring consultation of a lexicon several times in a single passage. Thanks to Zondervan press, however, that has changed. The new Reader's Hebrew Bible makes it possible to read the Hebrew text without having to flip through lexicons.
The concept is simple. The Reader's Hebrew Bible contains the entire Masoretic Text of the Tanach. In the apparatus of each page, it provides a definition for every word in the text on that page that occurs fewer than 100 times in the Tanach, linked to the text by footnote. Proper names are printed in gray, rather than in black ink, so they are easily identified. If for some reason, a word that occurs more than 100 times stumps you, a glossary in the back provides those words as well.
The advantage of having the vocabulary close at hand takes out all the work of slogging around in lexicons, allowing you to simply enjoy the experience of moving through the text in its original language. It provides a great way to study the weekly parashah.
Reasonably priced, beautifully bound and lots of fun, I recommend the Reader's Hebrew Bible for anyone learning to read biblical Hebrew.

Visitor Feedback:
What is the font size in this version and does it have vowel pointings? The older I get the more relevant the first part of this question is!
Thank you,
Darnell Rogers
DTL REPLIES: It's a very freindly size, easy to read, well-pointed. See the link to the sample pages.

It would be neat to see a page or two of this Bible; it sounds like a very helpful tool. Just a thought.
DTL REPLIES: Good idea. Zondervan has a sample pdf available from their website, so I placed a link to that in the post.

I have been using this Tanach for a few months now. I took 4 years of undergrad Biblical Hebrew, but there is still so much vocabulary I am not familiar with. This is a great tool and I am so glad the editors were able to convince Zondervan to publish it. It would be useful even if you haven't done much other than learn to read the alphabet.
