Guarding Speech

Tags:  lashon hara, Mishlei Musings, proverbs, speech

Proverbs 6:2-3 - "If you are snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth, then do this, my son, and save yourself..."

Guarding our tongue is such an essential aspect of our faith that James declares our religion useless if we are not able to control our speech (James 1:26) Once words are spoken they cannot be taken back. Learn from the wisdom of Proverbs about the dangers of slander, deceit, gossip, and negative speech. You'll also hear practical suggestions about how to combat this vice.

Visitor Feedback:

Good word! I was fascinated by the midrash description of the tongue, what an intriguing insight. Unfortunately, practice is harder than precept, may we all endeavor to pure speech.

ps: there is a misspelling on point 5, yourself

**Toby's Response:** Thanks! We will fix this.

Thank you. I really needed to hear this message. It is so easy to let this little member of the body to get out of hand. You may not gossip per se but we report negative reports in the news.

Again, thank you. I'm going to put forth more effort and study into this.

Thank you so much for your talk on guarding your speech.

This is something I need implanted into my very being. The business of life sometimes, I feel, is a snare. It is so important for me to get back to where I belong- living before the Lord in prayer and the Torah.

Thank you again and G-d bless you.
