Hear Our Sabbath Prayer

Brothers and sisters in Messiah, we have much to be thankful and grateful as the Sabbath approaches: salvation in Messiah, the blessing of Torah, food, clothing, shelter, and our health.

And yet, I was reminded this week that sometimes these basic needs go unfulfilled. Sometimes, inexplicably, life isn't so easy.

This week, tragically, our friend and fellow blogger Bill Beyer was crossing the street when he was struck by an SUV. Thanks to the Holy One, blessed be he, Bill survived the accident. However, he suffered a broken arm, leg, and pelvis. Bill is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery. If you've ever met Bill, you know how warm-hearted and joyful of a person he is. I pray that this accident doesn't break that wonderful spirit. Pray for Bill and his family his Shabbat, that Bill would have a speedy and complete recovery and that his pain would be minimal. Offer thanksgiving as well that our brother's life was spared.

I was also reminded this week that even shelter is sometimes threatened. As I type this, hurricane Ike is headed straight for Houston, TX. Joel Powell, the Audio/Video Director for First Fruits, and family resides in Houston. If the storm tracks as predicted, the Powell residence should avoid any serious flooding. But it's going to be a bumpy, noisy, windy weekend. Also, my father Dane Dralle is being sent down to the hurricane area this weekend. He is a technician for Nextel and is helping get damaged cell sites running after the storm blows through. Please be in prayer for the Powell's, my father Dane, and the entire TX/LA coastal area.

Thank you for your prayers and may Hashem bless you with a wonderful Sabbath rest in Messiah Yeshua.

See our affliction, take on our struggle, and quickly redeem us for the sake of your name, because you are a strong Redeemer. Blessed are you, Hashem, Redeemer of Israel.

Visitor Feedback:

I am so grieved by the news of his accident. Even though I don't know Bill personally, as a frequent visitor to the blogs, my heart has resonated with his more than once as he shared helps and insights.

May it be that HaShem would send complete recovery from Heaven, physical and spiritual healing to Bill. Blessed are you Adonai who heals his people Israel.

May HE give insight, wisdom and discernment to the Doctors and nurses as they use all the capacities that HaShem has given them to help our Brother.

Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-D who hears our prayers with compassion!

Amen.

Here are some updates:

First, a friend of Bill's posted this update on his condition on the forums:

Bill has asked me to convey his appreciation for the outpouring of support this forum is showing him right now..His surgery was successful and he now has a new titanium elbow and feels like the "Six Million Dollar Man" who was one of his favorites! He will be moving to the sub-acute floor on Monday, and now begins the process of recovery with therapy. He is very grateful to have your love, prayer and good wishes and misses everyone. His attitude is to be admired and he surely is an example of how to respond when bad things happen to good people.

Second, I spoke with my dad last night and he is not being sent to Texas. With recent heavy rains in Illinois, it was decided to make the IL technicians stay put to deal with any problems there.

Third, continue to keep the Powell's in prayer. With around 4 million without power in the greater Houston area, it may be a little while before we are able to hear from them.
