Today I cried. It felt very good. I rarely cry, so when I do it is assuring that I have not lost touch with my emotions. I do have a sensitive side.
It is so nice to be on the road, in communities, and in touch with other Torah families. Currently my family is in Ohio; we have been on the road for close to six weeks now and will be heading home next week. The road is always a place of learning for me. It is a reality check. On the road, I realize the needs of the struggling Torah communities, ways to sharpen our message, and--like today--I hear the hearts of faithful servants of God.
I cannot relate much about the story since it is a private matter. But I will relate that through my friend's story I was reassured of God's love, His forgiveness, and the power and importance to prayer.
Tonight when you bless your children at the Shabbat table be assured that He hears your prayers. If your children are not with you, pray for them, bless them as if they where there with you, in your home and at your table--be assured God hears your prayers.
God desires for us to lean on Him, trust Him, and communicate with Him. Prayer is a bonding agent between us and our Father. May the Lord bless you and Shabbat Shalom.

We Thank You offers a simple and innovative liturgy for disciples of Yeshua by weaving the ancient meal blessings of Judaism together with recently discovered prayers of the early believers.

Shalom Boaz,
Thank you for this encouraging post. I (of course) have no idea your friends situation, but I can say that your words spoke to me about my own 25 year old very lost, very worldly son - whom sometimes I basically could care less about. That's the truth.....as bad as it is and as sinful as I am.
Thank you for writing these words down...
"If your children are not with you, pray for them, bless them as if they where there with you, in your home and at your table--be assured God hears your prayers."
I don't feel like he should be blessed, but then that is why I need Messiah - to forgive me. This is why I need Torah - to instruct my ways and to show my very obvious sin.
Shabbat Shalom to you and family. May Adonai continue to keep you safe and provide for your every need.

Thank you for sharing, it does my heart good to hear these stories. I think we all sometimes wonder if God hears our prayers. To be reminded that He does helps me at least to keep going and keep trusting.
Shabbat Shalom,

I too have a son, 23, who is busily making a shambles of his life. My prayers thus far have yielded few obvious results.
As a parent, your reach a point where you know you can do nothing to change your child's behavior, and you are finally forced to drop the burden into the Father's lap and trust Him to change things. I don't like my son, but my heart breaks for him daily. I can only trust that the Father sees this and that His heart breaks too.
The temptation to give up is strong, but I will never surrender my child to the enemy.
Please pray for John.

I definitely know your pain that you are feeling for your children. My wife and I experienced the same traumatic event 8 yrs ago. Our daughter rebelled everything we stood for. We found finally, that we could no longer handle the situation on our own. At that time it had been 30 yrs. since I had even stepped into a church building. I made my committment to our Lord and my whole family was right there with me. Through this whole event, I am convinced that He used my daughter's rebellious ways to prove to me I needed change in my life first. Everything has turned out as a blessing including her and her husband rewarding us with 3 grandchildren and one more on the way. To put it all in a nutshell, NEVER give up praying or believing. He has our plans in His hands and therefore I turn everything over to Him. My chosen scripture is Proverbs 3:6 and I patiently live by it. Our children receive prayer every Shabbat, present or not.

I just wanted to encourage all of you who wrote to continue to pray for your children. We have had so many answers to prayer for our 3 children, all grown now. We had the busy teenage years with them and even some worries, but G-d was always faithful. "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov 22:6.
Our faith in G-d held strong, and so did our son's when he served in Iraq. G-d is so good!
