Anticipation

I have always been one who has enjoyed the emotion of anticipation. When I was a little boy my mother would tell me that my Uncle Bob and Aunt Judy were coming to visit. This gave me something to look forward to. It also gave me a reason to clean my room. But, I have always liked the feeling of knowing something great was about to happen and we never really knew when. And then when it arrives it is joy beyond belief. In the scriptures the disciples use a phrase like "...so that my joy may be complete." I think the resolution of anticipation makes our joy complete.

As believers we live in a time of anticipation. When will the Master return? What will it be like? What will he say? How will we respond? What happens to our world? All these questions play into the emotion of anticipation. But, even as we engage ourselves in the ultimate anticipation we still await smaller events.

The upcoming Shavuot Conference is an event of eager anticipation. At last year's conference I made many friends who are coming back again this year. I am anticipating seeing them again. I also know that there are going to be many people who I do not yet know, but who are brothers and sisters in Messiah. There will be times of teaching, eating, worship, discussion, eating, songs, dance, etc... Having the opportunity to engage in all that with siblings in Messiah will indeed make my joy complete.

Over on the Torah Club Online Forum many of us are eagerly anticipating meeting each other. For many of us we have grown and interacted with each other only in the medium of type. This event gives us an opportunity to see each other and worship with each other. The Torah Club Online Forum is a great place to build relationships with people from all over the world and now we are going to echo the words of John when he wrote: "Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that our joy may be made full." (2 John 12).

Some of us from the Torah Club Online Forum are anticipating being able to meet others who utilize Torah Club and the vast array of other materials that FFOZ produces to enhance our Torah walk. Many of you who are not Torah Club members yet are also coming to the conference because FFOZ has touched you in some way. I look forward to June and the time when we will all gather and then our joy can be made complete.
