Snow in Jerusalem

When I drove home last night the temperature was already 12 below zero on the Fahrenheit scale as it made its slide to -20. Wind chills brought it down another to the negative thirties. That’s starting to get cold even for native Minnesotans. My fingers began to tingle numb with cold even though they were in my gloves and I had my vehicle’s heat on, but I comforted myself with the thought that in a few weeks I would be enjoying the warm Jerusalem sun, the near-tropical temperatures of the Galilee.

As Boaz has mentioned on these blogs, we are planning a trip to Israel next month. It’s not a teaching trip, it’s not an FFOZ tour. Instead, several FFOZ staffers are returning to Israel to shoot some video teaching segments for the new HaYesod program. It’s one way we can take everyone to Israel with us as we press on with our mission to strengthen the love and appreciation of the Body of Messiah for the Land, the People and the Scriptures of Israel.

Today, the Jerusalem Post dispelled my illusions of tropical paradise with photos of a heavy snowfall that blanketed Jerusalem and much of Israel. Check out the story here.

He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold? (Psalm 147:16–17)

Visitor Feedback:

Might be cool if we did some filming in snow, but I emphasize "some".

I know what you mean about the chilly weather! Down here in Texas we got hit with a cold front! Today it dipped down into the 40's! ;o)

To paraphrase Frank Herbert:

'God made Minnesota to test the faithful.'

2 days ago it was 63 degrees at 10 pm. Yesterday it got down to the 20's. Today it is in the 50's and we are expecting snow tonight. If anyone ever wondered if God has a sense of humor the answer is yes! You want proof? Come to Oklahoma. :0

You can see the snow at the Western Wall with the Western Wall Cam at aish.com.
