Hanukkah Controversy and Concert

By Toby Janicki  | Comments (0) | Posted on December 5, 2007

As we are in the Festival of Hanukkah I daily am getting e-mail links to articles and other various sundries relating to the Festival of Lights. I thought I would share two of them with you.

The first is an article form the Jerusalem Post regarding the traditional story about the miracle of the oil. Some of you might know that there is a lot of debate as to whether or not this story ever really took place or is just a legend. This article adds a couple, of interesting twists including a discussion of which priest’s seal would have been on the infamous last jar of oil left.

The Second is a Hanukkah concert that I would gather is probably like none other in the history of the earth. It was given last night on the first night of Hanukkah at the Kennedy Center by a bluegrass band made up of Orthodox Jews called “The Sinai Mountain Boys”. You can see the whole concert (here) complete with candle lighting from a Chabad rabbi. Can't wait for these guys to come out with a CD.

Chag Sameach!
