There is a story told of an old sea captain who looked out over the water one day and saw a ship headed in his direction. He summoned his signalman and had him send this message, “Change your course 10 degrees to the south.” A few moments later the approaching ship sent back the message, “Change YOUR course 10 degrees to the north.” You can begin to sense a little tension between the two at this point.
The Sea Captain returned with the message, “Change your course 10 degrees to the south, I am a Captain!” A few moments later the reply came, “Change your course 10 degrees to the north, I am an admiral.” The Captain sent the final message that read, “I am a lighthouse, and if you do not change your course 10 degrees to the south you will run into dry ground.”
In this day and age we often have the danger of running into dry ground (theologically speaking of course). There is no end to the dangers and temptations that strive to draw us farther and farther away from the truth of scripture. Like the Admiral in the ship, if we sometimes do not rely on the wisdom and knowledge of another person and the Ruach, we run the risk of grounding ourselves and not being able to break free.
The Torah Club Online Forum gives Torah Club members a place to bring thoughts, ideas, teachings, and questions. It also gives us a chance to share with each other how we are growing and where we can go to find the answers that we need. For many of us we are the only Torah- pursuant people in our areas. The Torah Club Online forum gives us the chance to support each other and see to it that we do not run aground.
If you are not currently a member of the Torah Club, please know it is never too late to sign up. And if you are a Torah Club member and you have not yet signed on to the online forum we would love to meet you. Do not hesitate to use the space below if you have any questions.
