It's Time for Sukkot!
Shalom and Sukkot Greetings,
Tonight begins the festival of Sukkot. Is this not the time that we are working towards? On this night, every native born Israelite is commanded to build a sukkah and live it in for seven days. Sukkah is the Hebrew word for booth (sometimes translated as tabernacle). In Zechariah 14, even the Gentiles are shown keeping Sukkot in the Messianic kingdom to come. Therefore, Sukkot is specifically called a festival for all nations. For that reason, this festival is especially precious to us at First Fruits of Zion. Our ministry is all about bringing the wonderful truths of God’s Torah to all nations under the kingship of our righteous Messiah, Yeshua of Nazareth.
In the current issue of Messiah Magazine, you will find a wonderful article by Aaron Eby about how to build a traditional sukkah. Just be sure that you don’t put it up between Wednesday night and Thursday night since the first day of Sukkot is supposed to be a Sabbath. Ideally, it should be built before sunset tonight. (Maybe you should be out building a sukkah instead of reading this blog!)
At First Fruits of Zion, we love the festival of Sukkot and all its various themes of harvest, the sojourn in the wilderness, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, the millennial reign of Messiah, the birth of Yeshua, the prayers for rain and the provision of God. This year, it is especially poignant because we are building our own temporary dwelling, one which will hopefully endure for the sojourn of this ministry on earth. I am speaking of our new Missouri facility, our new distribution center. The walls are up and it is beginning to take shape. I am sending a photo out to our Torah Club members so they can have a sneak peek at this exciting project. I will post some photos on a blog here in a few weeks.
To be sure, First Fruits of Zion is not about buildings, but this new “home” is being built with great frugality (a very small budget indeed!) and will help us better meet our growing needs with efficiency and effectiveness as we continue our pursuit of proclaiming the Messiah and Torah throughout the world.
Several months ago we shared with you about our plans to centralize our offices—and a majority of our staff—to Missouri. As a matter of update to you now: our transition on some levels has affected our ability to serve you as well as we are accustomed to, we are still having unidentifiable troubles with our computer systems, some phone line hiccups, and other related issues. Your continued prayers for the remainder of this transition are still very much needed and appreciated. Moreover, please be patient with us through this time of transition.
Most of all, my heart is with each of you this festival, my brothers and sisters in the Master. I long for the day when we will all be gathered together from the four winds into the great Sukkah of Messiah. Then we will feast in joy and gladness at the banquet of the king.
Next Year in Jerusalem
