Keep in touch with what is happening
behind the scenes at First Fruits of Zion.

For more than a decade, Torah Club has been the staple product of the ministry of First Fruits of Zion. It began with a monthly commentary on the Torah: the Torah Club. After completing a year’s worth of study material to accompany the weekly synagogue reading schedule, we began to add subsequent volumes. Torah Club Volume Two was titled “Yeshua in the Torah.” (Last year we rewrote this volume under the new title “Shadows of the Messiah.”) Torah Club Volume Three offers commentary on the readings from the prophets, the haftarah portions. Volume Four is a commentary on the Gospels and the book of Acts from a Jewish perspective. Volume Five is an in-depth study of Genesis through Deuteronomy and all 613 commandments therein. Together these five volumes create a valuable resource for understanding the Bible from a Messianic Jewish perspective.
In the past, many of you have supported the work of FFOZ through your Torah Club subscriptions. This fall, we are pleased to offer you yet another year of Torah study. After nearly fifteen years, we felt it was time to rewrite Torah Club Volume One. After all, we’ve learned a lot in the last decade and a half. So we are pleased to present to you the completely rewritten Torah Club Volume One beginning this fall with the new reading cycle. The new Volume One is still untitled. This is not so much a revision of the old material as it is a completely rewritten, brand new commentary on Torah. It is introductory level material, but it focuses on the more difficult aspects of Torah: namely developing godly character.
It is a new approach: broad and friendly in its scope, but challenging in the area of moral application. Some have compared it to a devotional, but it is more of an introductory commentary. Today I am working in parashat Vayishlach, once again wrestling with Jacob and the angel and sending gifts to Esau and pondering the ultimate meaning of the name "Israel."
Even if you have been through Torah Club Volume One before, I want to encourage you to sign up for the new version before the fall. Torah Club subscriptions support the work of FFOZ, and as always, a large portion of the subscription price is a tax deductible contribution to the ministry.
As the project continues, I will keep you updated on these blogs and let you know how things are going.
In the meantime, we need to come up with a title quickly. The original Torah Club Volume One was called “Torah Treasures.” Several months ago, I asked the Torah Club forum members for suggestions. Here are a few of contenders for the new title that we are considering. We want something very broad and very basic, but with just a touch of intrigue. We like the word “scroll” in the title. Do you like any of these or have any further suggestions?
Torah Club Volume One: The Holy Scroll
Torah Club Volume One: The Scroll of Moses
Torah Club Volume One: The Scroll of the Torah
Torah Club Volume One: The Law of Life
Torah Club Volume One: The Holy Oracle
Torah Club Volume One: Saved By Works
That last one, of course, is not serious. But we’d like to hear your opinions, even if they aren't necessarily serious.

How about...
Torah Club Volume One: Tree of Life (Or is that one already used?)
Of the ones you presented the one I like the best was Torah Club Volume One: The Law of Life. However, I often shy away from the word "Law" myself. So I would change that to "Torah of life" or "Instruction of Life."
Or since it is the First Volume you could call it...
Torah Club Volume One: In the Beginning

Bill

Well,
How about a vote for continuity?
I think the Torah Club Flash Movie is a great invitation to the FFOZ materials. In the video, the emphasis is upon the question, "Are you ready to unroll the Scroll?"
Call it Torah Club Volume One: The Scroll Unrolled
or something like that...

If you like the word 'scroll' how about something like...
Torah Club Volume One: Unwinding the scroll...or Unrolling the scroll.
If you put that in contrast with Torah Club 5: Simchat Torah when we rewind the scroll for the nest year. It is kind of a cool books end to each other.
Just another thought.
Shalom,
Bill

I am not sure of this ( new ) direction you are taking. But
I do like
1. Torah -The Tree of Life (above)
2. Jeshuah ( Jesus) - the living Torah!
3. Torah - fire from the mountain
4. The Torah -laws of life in a modern world
I am just starting to mentor three young men about Salvation and true Torah teaching.
but they are all woefully ignorant of how the Bible is put together and who authored it. One young lad Dwayne told me by phone: ( And he was serious) Didn't a space shipt drop off Jesus and forget him here - picking him up later after the cross. And isn't the Bible just another book put together by a bunch of men like an encyclopedia. And what's an Old testament and a new Testament ane why is one called New.
I went to the library and got two tapes 1. Who wrote the Bible and 2) How the Bible came to be.
I'm going to have them all review it before going any further with them
Unfortuneately I have to go with what resources I have. My wife and I are alone except for an Armstrong devotee and we need video and credible material to do our work. Our Christian bretheren have so little resources, even for those that are inquisitive.
Any suggestions would be valuable.
Most of my teaching comes for Monty Judah's monthly Publications library sermons on his Lion and the Lamb web site.
I believe I have a Luke, a Peter and a Paul in training.
by the way - Love your web site.
Yours in Yeshuah my Messiah

I think a great title would be Aish HaTorah or the fire of the Torah. After all, it is vol. 1 the starts the flames of Torah in you heart.

Etz Chaim ( tree of life) is good.

I think that Aish HaTorah Scrolls is a good name for Volume One and I also like the name Unrolling he Torah Scrolls.
Torah Club is a great tool.
Thank You so much and may you continue to be showered with the blessings that are brought forth by ADONAI.
