New Dead Sea Scrolls
Biblical scholar James Charlesworth announced that he has found a new fragment of Genesis from the Dead Sea Scrolls (read about it here). He also announced that he has obtained 30 new Dead Sea Scroll fragments and will be publishing them online (here) in late August.
The Dead Sea Scrolls have revolutionized the study of the Bible in the last 50 years by giving us a window into a sectarian group from the Second Temple Period. It is exciting to think that more will be released!

I am so glad YHWH has led modern mankind to find the Dead Sea scrolls! Once you understand the significance of these scrolls, you can see how their discovery plays perfectly into the these last days. As more and more study is done on these scrolls, Christian researchers are progressively discovering how important the Torah really is. I recommend Charlesworth's lectures on the subject (http://www.easycart.net/ecarts/bib-arch/9HLC1.html). My wife and I bought them (10 DVDs for $199, on sale right now for $59) from the Biblical Archaeology Society online. They really explain the significance of the scrolls with respect to the accuracy (and inaccuracy) of modern Biblical translation, and how they shed light on who Messiah really was and is. It was very refreshing to hear Charlesworth say in these lectures that "Jesus was the most Jewish Jew of all time! He obeyed the Torah, and it was not a burden to Him." Charlesworth is a Methodist pastor.

Just returned from my hometown of San Diego and was priviledged to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. Awesome is not the word! It took me 2 hours to go through the entire exhibit (I wanted more time!). A few suggestions for those that will visit: make it a point to go a few times so that you can ingest all of the information (or be read up on it). Try to avoid weekends...they're packed and you will feel rushed. Remember you have to go through security before you enter the museum..so take that into consideration. San Diego rush hour on I-5 starts about 4:30 p.m. The exhibit is split on two levels. The scrolls are on the lower level of the Natural History Museum which is located downtown in Balboa Park. It is just south of the zoo. Parking is a bit tough. It's truly and unforgettable experience! Enjoy!
