New Moon eRosh

Shalom FFOZ Community,

By now you should have received our first eRosh, a new monthly, electronic newsletter and teaching source that we are going to send out every new, biblical month. The new moon which marks the beginning of the biblical month is called Rosh Chodesh (Head of the Month), hence our snazzy, little title “eRosh.”

The eRosh newsletter has information about what’s going on at FFOZ, links to teaching materials for the whole family, information about the biblical month and a downloadable calendar page. Its all free to myFFOZ members.

The purpose of this newsletter is primarily to help put the monthly new moons back on the map. Every new moon is an appointed time. We should be anticipating and observing the cycle of the new moon. It’s part of the practice of Torah. In so doing, we will be far more aware of the biblical festivals and more in tune with God’s work in our lives through the liturgical year.

Each eRosh comes with downloadable teaching and activities for the kids. This is something that we have wanted to do for a long time. With growing children ourselves, we are constantly aware of the need for materials that will teach our children about discipleship to Yeshua within the context of Torah and commandments.

The study materials and activities we have prepared depend upon parental involvement. Don’t expect any results if you just print them off and hand them to your children. The materials should be used to create discussion opportunities with your kids as you endeavor to “teach the commandments diligently to your children.”

Like the weekly eDrash we send out with commentary on the Torah portions, we are making this new resource free to the FFOZ community. We are primarily a ministry, not a publisher, and we depend on donors like yourselves to sustain the work of FFOZ. The monthly e-Rosh newsletter is one of our ways of saying thank you for your support and a way of reminding you of the ongoing need. Your donations are making a difference all over the world. Together we are turning the hearts of believers back to the Jewish people and the Torah of God.

Each new moon reminds us that new beginnings are possible with God. We hope the work of FFOZ has sparked a new beginning in your life.

Please give us your feedback on the new eRosh materials. You can post your comments here.

My heart jumped for joy! As a new mom and new observer of Torah, thank you. I think I'll be going through the Pirkei Avinu for myself, just to learn how to think about and apply the Master's word.

It would be my suggestion that the Bilbical names of the months be used as well.

My suggestion is guided by the scripture than warns us not to add to nor take away from The Word. The Romans did change the names of the months but so did the Rabbis.

The King James Version names all but 3 of the months.

It would be an advantage to have this information on the Mikraey Kodesh calendar also.

Shalom Alechem

Superb as usual. FFOZ consistently produces high quality materials, both in content and graphic design. Being in the printing trade and a graphic designer, I have great respect for organizations that do top quality work. Thank you. I can promote your efforts with confidence. Our children are grown now, but we do have many grandchildren that will benefit from this material and provide a useful platform for instruction for their parents. Again, thank you for all your faithful work. It will not be wasted.

Daniel,

Thanks to you and FFOZ for creating a wonderful teaching tool for parents to use with their children. We plan to use this material for a weekly mid-week study with our two children. We appreciate all you do.

Thanks,
Cal and Jeri Murray
