HaYesod in the Land

Time just seems to fly. Last week I was sitting at a Colorado Rockies baseball game with a good friend, and we realized that we had known each other for over seven years. I met him before any of my children were born, and before I had a mortgage. We had gone through a lot together in those seven years, but nevertheless we are still friends.

Life at FFOZ is really no different. Can you believe it was eight years ago that the HaYesod program was released? Wherever I go, speaking and teaching for FFOZ, I constantly meet people who have come into the Torah movement through this introductory program. In fact, it is amazing that eight years later, it is still one of our most popular products.

Nevertheless, it is time for an upgrade, and as a staff we have decided that revamping HaYesod is a priority. For one thing, the series is on VHS, and most people now are asking for DVD. Second, it is a fourteen-week program, and we often hear that it is very difficult to get people to commit for three-plus months, so we want to reduce it to eight weeks. Theologically, we want to make a few changes, such as placing greater stress on Gentile inclusion in Torah life, as well as changing terminology (like using the term Apostolic Scriptures over Brit Chadasha).

Perhaps the most exciting thing that we plan to change is filming some of the program on location in Israel. Since FFOZ’s early days, the ministry has stressed the importance of having a connection to the Land and the people of Israel. Despite our material comforts in the Diaspora, our longings and hearts are within Israel’s borders. Those of you who have been there know that there is something unexplainably special about the Land that our Father chose and that the Master walked upon. By filming shots within the Land, we hope to capture this connection.

We will be leaving on Sunday, April 29, for this ten-day trip. God willing, Daniel, Boaz, Joel and I will be able to accomplish in this short amount of time all that we have planned. After we return, we will do some more filming in the studio within the next year. All in all the project will take a year or longer to finish. Please pray for our safety as we are away from our families, and that HaShem’s grace would be upon us as we seek to further His Kingdom through the completion of this project. At the heart of the HaYesod project is the Master’s call:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

Visitor Feedback:

This is wonderful news!

HaYesod was a great turning point for me, personally, and there is still no other resource out there like it.

Will any of the original teachers be returning...
Mark, Tim, Kevin and/or Kevin?

I will be looking forward to the new and improved edition.

Until then...
Prayers for safety and shalom

As one of the original HaYesod Teachers, this is good news that it can be cut down and put on DVD! I taught HaYesod ten times and I feel that it ranks as some of the most cherished and memorable times in my life, to see the excitment, the emotion on peoples faces, the anger of their feeling how they felt how they had been lied to or robbed, they would say!

Our prayers will be with you as you make this trip to make HaYesod even better than it was.

I pray for this to be a blessing to all who will take part in it, both in it's production and those who watch it. May G-d continue to bless this wonderful ministry.

We're very pleased to hear about the HaYesod re-vamping. We have had the priviledge to have taken close to 70 people through the program and have found it a super discipleship tool. Plus, every time we teach the program we catch something we missed the previous times...
